Spee-Dee Test Lab Replicates Customer Applications

A second-floor mezzanine is integrated to enhance the testing process.  Products are transported using a Frazier bucket elevator or a PIAB vacuum conveyor.

The 2,400 square-foot testing lab permits ancillary packaging equipment to be utilized, such as Vertical Form Fill Seal machines, conveyors, checkweighers and infeed systems, to replicate a fully operational packaging line.  This allows Spee-Dee product testing to be nearly identical to the results customers will see in their plants. To test high speed rotary fillers, the test lab can fill 400 containers per minute using a 150-foot test loop. 

High-speed cameras record the tests to show product characteristics and any drip, string out, or transition problems. We contain dangerous and/or dusty product using full dust collection equipment and plastic curtains that surround the testing lab. A drainage system allows equipment to be washed within the testing area. For added customer convenience, Spee-Dee maintains a sizeable tooling inventory and stores sample product on-site.

Detailed test results are provided to show filling accuracy, speed, and test parameters. Our experienced technicians also include test summaries to explain the challenges certain products pose, and list the steps taken to overcome those challenges.
